You will need to be registered with the NMC & have a Nursing qualification.
Duties
• Ensure the needs of each resident are assessed and that they receive the highest standard of care and service appropriate to those identified needs.
• Ensure each resident has an up to date and agreed care plan which details the interventions necessary; evaluating and reviewing the care plans in line with policy. • Participate fully in the overall care of the residents, enabling quality of life through effective direct and delegated care and service.
• Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Matron Manager and or Deputy Matron Head of Care.
• Act professionally at all times, working within the NMC professional code of conduct, the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Care Home Regulations 2001.
• Evidence ongoing self-development. Attend all statutory training sessions, and other training sessions both clinical and professional development sessions to comply with professional requirements, making certain that personal practice remains evidence based.
• Take accountability for the medication rounds, making sure that medication is administered strictly in line with policies and procedures, adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Practice and the NMC Guidelines for the Administration of Medications.

Typical responsibilities include:
Patient consultations at home and within the surgery
Monitoring patients’ conditions and wellbeing
Clinical examinations
Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses/ailments
Minor surgery
Carrying out tests to diagnose (eg urine sample testing)
Health education
Liaising with other healthcare professionals (eg midwives, pharmacists, health visitors and psychiatrists) as part of multidisciplinary teams
Occasionally providing emergency care to someone who comes in with a life-threatening condition
Occasional On-calls
